El Cantar del Viento - Hotel Boutique en Peña de Bernal

I am in love. I’m sitting at the hotel right now spending my precious vacation time writing this review because of how special this place is! We came to this tiny little town Bernal for a friend’s wedding and would never have discovered this little magical place otherwise. This hotel is clearly a labor of love by the owner Tony, and the grounds are beautiful…thoughtful little details in every corner to enjoy. It’s just a delight exploring each part and it feels like a secret I’ve discovered (as an American, anyway). It’s early December and the lows are in the upper 40s, and while there isn’t any heat in the room, they can provide you with plenty of cozy blankets to keep you warm. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. I have nothing to show for my 2 years of high school Spanish, and they do not speak any English here but they use Google translate on their phones to communicate with non-Spanish speakers. Have had no issues with the language barrier. Breakfast is included at the lovely little restaurant from 9 - 11 am. I wanted to sit at the 4-top table that had these two Beauty and the Beast placemats (I am one of those annoying “Disney Adults”…google it) set up and my husband convinced me to sit closer to the view at a 2-top table. Good thing I listened because 30 minutes later a family of 4 walks into the restaurant with 2 little girls for whom the placemats were clearly meant. I tell the story though to show how attentive the staff is in every detail. The placemats were so sweet and I’m glad I didn’t take that away from that family. Haha. Although now I keep wanting to sing “little town, it’s a quiet village…” everywhere I go here. Everywhere you go you get a great view of la Peña, the monolith that is the big draw of the town. We had an awesome pre-dawn hike up the rock and watched the sunrise this morning. The town of Bernal itself is really tiny and cute…so small that you can walk anywhere within 15 minutes or so. We’re thankful we got to experience this place for a few days and just wanted to share the love! Shoutout to Maricruz! Thank you for such an enjoyable stay!

One of the best hotels I stayed in so far. Great place to stay if you want to keep it simple. Service is great. They really take time to make sure you’re ok and all of your needs are met. It does get cold at night so I would suggest you bring some warm pajamas but they also give you blankets to keep you warm. The water is hot and wifi is good. I saw all the great reviews and they still exceeded my expectations. The view from your room is amazing. Great place to get away or spend romantic weekend with a significant other.

Lovely hotel in Bernal!! Stunning views of the Peña both from the common areas as well as from the beautifully appointed rooms. Hanging out at the terrace was amazing, the views are just breathtaking, you may request to purchase a beer or beverage for a pre-meal drink. The breakfast included was delicious and homemade, we had chilaquiles one morning and enchiladas the next, a fruit plate, coffee and juice to go with, they change the menu each day. Staff were all very nice and helpful.

The hotel is beautiful and offers amazing views of the peña de Bernal. There is a lot of care that went into making this a pleasant site to stay. My only negative comment would be to say that breakfast did not meet the expectation for a hotel of this caliber. We expected better quality fresh foods and more variety given the price paid for the stay.

Lovely room, beautiful view, but bed was very hard and incomfortable. Very yummy breakfast service. Easy walk to the center of town, which was quite nice. Definitely not ADA - lots of steps.

This place is amazing, if you are looking for the place with the view, this is it!. Cozy little place that makes you feel at home. The owner is always there and makes you feel like family. Excellent food and service.

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the view of the Peña de Bernal. The space is a charming and lovely, cozy space. The food is just right, with fresh sandwiches for lunch and delicious chilaquiles for breakfast! Will return soon :)
